Andhra will be desperate for some consistency after having won a game by 91 runs against Railways, but will be disappointed with their heavy nine-wicket loss to Rajasthan. 

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey expressed his enthusiasm and stated: "This bilateral series against Germany will be a remarkable showcase of world-class hockey. Both India and Germany have a rich history in the sport, and this series will give fans an opportunity to witness an intense competition between two of the most formidable teams in the world.

"It is a great honour to be nominated for the FIH Player of the Year Award again," the Indian defender stated in a Hockey India release.

Sikkim, who are on a two-game losing streak, will hope for some positives in the Andhra clash, hoping to register their first points in the tournament, currently in seventh, just above Meghalaya.

The tournament comes with much added significance as the ICC Champions Trophy is less than two months away.

While the majority of the squad picks itself, there are still places up for grabs and good performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy will put players in good stead ahead of the squad selection. 

India last played an ODI series in July and thus the tournament will play a crucial role for players on the fringe of the Indian side.
